Mexican telecommunications company, Televisa, has announced it has appointed Redibra, a leading licensing and brand extension agency, as the official licensing agent for the band, RBD, in Brazil.
Redibra will develop a consumer products program tailored for RBD fans, bringing the brand back to life in Brazil. Televisa, RBD and Redibra have a history of collaboration, having previously worked together in 2006.
With Redibra’s extensive licensing experience and Televisa’s history of producing high-quality entertainment, RBD fans in Brazil can look forward to a variety of branded products and merchandise. Fans will be able to reconnect with the brand and relive the magic of the early 2000s.
“We are excited about the opportunity to develop amazing products and experiences for the huge community of RBD fans in Brazil,” says David Diesendruck, chief executive officer, Redibra.
“We are confident that Redibra’s expertise in licensing and brand extension will help us connect with RBD fans in Brazil,” says Maura Romo, director, consumer products, Televisa. “We are excited to see how the program will take shape, and we are looking forward to bringing the RBD brand to life in Brazil once again.”
RBD, or Rebelde, was a Mexican band formed in 2004 from the soap opera of the same name aired by the Televisa network. With a pop-rock style, RBD achieved great success in Latin America and other countries, selling millions of records and touring worldwide. The group broke up in 2009.
Recently, they announced their return to the stage, already breaking several records worldwide. With a tour passing through several countries, they sold over 800,000 tickets in less than three hours, 450,000 in Brazil alone.
In addition, with the return of the songs on digital platforms, RBD broke a record on Spotify in less than 24 hours with the release of the album, “Ser o Parecer.” The album surpassed the Korean group, BTS, and became the most-listened-to album on the first day of release in the platform’s history.
