The Astrid Lindgren Company, the organization that runs the estate for the creator of Pippi Longstocking, has partnered with Save the Children to raise €750,000 in the fight for children's rights.
Pippi Longstocking creator Astrid Lindgren worked extensively to fight on behalf of displaced children throughout her life. Now, on the 75th anniversary of the creation of Pippi Longstocking, the organization set up by her family is continuing her work by partnering with Save the Children. Together, both companies aim to collect more than €750,000 in charitable donations to give girls and boys around the world a healthy start, an education and protection from harm.
“I cannot think of any better way to celebrate Pippi’s anniversary than to let her support the world's most vulnerable children today–girls on the move,” says Olle Nyman, Lindgren’s grandson and chief executive officer, The Astrid Lindgren Company. “My grandmother’s struggle for children’s rights was lifelong. It is possible to see in all her stories, but also in her work as an opinion former and social commentator. She was an ambassador for all children, regardless of their background or life situation.”
