Uniqlo, a Japanese global apparel retailer, will launch a clothing collection in collaboration with Finlayson, a 200-year-old Finnish design brand.

“Collaborating with a design brand such as Finlayson, with its beautiful patterns inspired by the unique relationships Finnish people have with nature, is one more way for us to deepen our understanding of the region,” says Rei Matsunuma, director, UT collaboration business promotion division, Uniqlo. “We believe the company’s clear graphic shapes are ideal for the items we have designed together.”

The deal marks the first time Finlayson’s patterns will be featured in an international clothing collection. The limited-edition collection, which includes women’s casual clothing as well as clothes for children and babies, will be available at the beginning of March in more than 2,000 Uniqlo stores worldwide.

“We are excited to bring Nordic design to the world together with Uniqlo, one of the biggest and most innovative clothing brands in the world,”

says Tiina Mikkonen, export director, Finlayson. “The patterns in the collection embody Nordic design and the values of equality and respect for nature. It's a huge honor for us and for the Finnish design industry.”
