The Toy Foundation (TTF) has announced the appointment of Andy Quartin, chief executive, Thames & Kosmos, as chair of the foundation’s board of trustees and Kathleen Campisano, global chief marketing officer and general manager, Beacon Media Group, as vice chair. Quartin and Campisano will lead TTF in its new strategic action plan to unite the toy industry behind the shared commitment to create a world where every child has the opportunity to experience comfort, joy and the extraordinary physical, emotional and educational benefits of play.
“For the past three years, we’ve had the privilege of Andrew Weiner, chief advisor of Toy’n Around, serving as foundation chair and leading our work as children’s needs for play grew exponentially and we sought to deepen our impact,” says Pamela Mastrota, executive director, TTF. “His advocacy and perseverance were instrumental to bringing the industry together. Now as we look to build momentum with our new strategic plan, Andy Quartin’s vast skillset and vision will steer us in meeting measurable goals, advancing the toy industry and deepening our collective philanthropic impact to deliver the extraordinary benefits of play to all children in need.”
For more than 10 years, Quartin has led Thames & Kosmos in its vision to give children access to real, physical activities and projects that teach them about how things work. His experience translates to leading the board and TTF in becoming an influential voice and an effective partner to the industry.
“Every day we work to give the gift of play to children everywhere,” says Quartin. “As chair of The Toy Foundation, I strive to collaborate with companies of all sizes and in all areas of play to deepen our impact in serving children in need. If you have not partnered with The Toy Foundation yet, I look forward to working together whether it be through donations to The Toy Bank, DEI program development or funding play grants to children’s hospitals or in response to emergent situations. I’m excited for what’s to come.”
Like Quartin, Campisano also joined the board of trustees in 2019 and played a pivotal role in transitioning TTF to a strategic and metric-based approach that better serves the industry and children everywhere. A long-time contributor to the toy industry, her vast business and marketing expertise will help create momentum behind TTF’s work in her new role as vice chair. Campisano previously chaired the Children’s Hospital Committee and continues to serve on the Brand & Communications Committee.
TTF’s board of trustees also elected two new members, Sara Rosales Montalvo, senior vice president of communications, Jazwares, and Anthony Trani, chief executive officer, Elenco Electronics. Rosales Montalvo offers more than 25 years of experience as a communications and public relations strategist telling stories that help companies meet their business goals. Trani brings 20 years of global marketing and business experience for consumer-packaged goods and continuously works to create moments of joy for kids and their families.
“I’m eager to work closely with Kathleen as we continue to strengthen The Toy Foundation,” says Quartin. “A warm welcome to Sara and Anthony, as well as a special thanks to the entire board of trustees and Toy Foundation staff for your continued commitment to unite the toy industry behind the shared vision of a world where every child experiences the benefits of play.”
