McCall will join ITV from EasyJet, where she was chief executive officer for 7 years. During her tenure, she brought a customer-focused approach to the business and helped redefine what passengers now expect during their short haul flights. Prior to EasyJet, she was the group chief executive of the Guardian Media Group.
In addition, McCall has been a non-executive director of Burberry since 2014. She also sits on the Board of the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and is a Trustee at the Royal Academy. She also previously held non-executive director roles with Lloyds (2008-2009), Tesco (2005-2008) and New Look (1999-2005).
“In a very impressive field of high caliber candidates, Carolyn stood out for her track record in media, experience of an international operation, clear strategic acumen and strong record of delivering value to shareholders,” says Peter Bazalgette, chairman, ITV. “I’m delighted we’ll be working together at ITV.”
