Disney+ has announced a mobile distribution deal with O2 in the U.K. roughly one week before the launch of Disney+ in Europe.

Telefónica-owned O2 has become the exclusive mobile distributor of Disney+ in the U.K. Unlike in the U.S. where Verizon customers were offered a free year, O2 subscribers with the “latest plans” offered by the carrier will receive six months of Disney+, then after that period, users can add £5.99 per month onto their bill to keep the subscription and receive £2 off their plans.

This is the latest in a slate of European deals that Disney has confirmed in the last few months. It follows announcements in France with Canal+, in Spain with Telefónica, in Italy with TIM, in Germany with Deustche Telehom and the U.K. with Sky.

Also announced, Disney will release “Frozen 2” on Disney+ three months ahead of schedule.

The company said the early release was to “surprise families with some fun and joy during this challenging period” of the coronavirus pandemic.

Bob Chapek, Disney’s new chief executive officer, says the film “has captivated audiences around the world through its powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant during this time.”

“Frozen 2” launched on March 5 in the U.S. and in HD, with other UHD HDR releases in the Netherlands, New Zealand, Canada and Australia set for March 17.

The movie should also be available in Europe when Disney+ launches there on March 24.
