A debut range of products based on the “Tom Gates” children’s books and television series “The Brilliant World of Tom Gates” will be available exclusively in-store at Sainsbury’s and Argos this month. The back-to-school promotion is supported by a month-long, in-store POS campaign in the power aisle and in a national competition.

The retail promotion was arranged by The Point.1888, Tom Gates’ brand licensing agent for the U.K., as part of a wider brand program to encourage children to get creative through doodling, music and crafting. Sainsbury’s stores across the country (as well as online in Sainsbury’s and Argos) are selling the exclusive back-to-school range that includes gel pens, a backpack, doodle book, lunch bag, sipper bottle, color-in pencil case together with a range of the popular “Tom Gates” books.

“School has been disrupted over the last two years and we hope this new ‘Tom Gates’ range will help young fans across the country get excited about being back and having fun in the classroom,” says Janine Richmond, product and brand head, The Point.1888.

The launch is also supported by a ‘summer doodle’ competition in Sainsbury’s stores run by Tom Gates Entertainment with a range of prizes including an exclusive doodle by creator Liz Pichon.

“The ‘Tom Gates’ brand is warm and funny, bursting with creativity, and much-loved by families across the globe,” says Tessa Moore, marketing head, Tom Gates Entertainment. “We are excited to launch this exclusive new range with Sainsbury’s, supported by a fantastic competition encouraging children to get creative in their summer holidays and win some special prizes.”
