Warner Bros. Consumer Products has partnered with The New Zealand Post, the country’s postal service provider, for a line of The Hobbit stamps and commemorative coins in the country where the upcoming trilogy was filmed.
Stamps and coins will be released for all three films in the series, the first of which will be The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which will have its world premiere in New Zealand on Nov. 28 and arrive around the world beginning Dec. 14.
"We are the only country in the world with the rights to produce legal tender commemorative coins, featuring characters from The Hobbit trilogy, and we are delighted to be involved and show support for the New Zealand Film Industry," says Ivor Masters, head of stamps and coins, NZPost.
WBCP collaborated with the NZPost on the series of stamps and coins, which will feature various characters from Middle-earth. Both lines will be available at NZPost shops and online Nov. 1, with pre-ordering beginning in early October.
