SEGA Corporation has taken on its first client as a merchandising agent–Lima Sky’s game app, “Doodle Jump.”

The partners announced a deal Thursday that will see SEGA handle the licensing and merchandising of the app in Japan.

This isn’t the first time the two companies have teamed up–a separate division of SEGA acts as the global master amusement toy licensee for Doodle Jump and a third division serves as the distributor of Doodle Jump-branded arcade machines in Europe.

“Success in the most influential and trend-smart licensing market worldwide requires a partner with the knowledge, relationships and reach to get things done,” says Eric Karp, chief licensing officer, Eric Karp. “SEGA Corporation is one of Japan’s oldest and greatest game makers. More importantly, they know what it means to nurture beloved brands over time, making them the perfect caretakers for Doodle Jump.”

SEGA will now work to build partnership with designers, manufacturers and distributors to create and release a full line of Doodle Jump-inspired style and entertainment goods in Japan.

The two game developers are also considering creative collaborations that might include branded crossovers in the future.
