Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is launching a licensing program for the video game "Lemmings," which originally launched in 1991.

Four licensees have already signed on to create product featuring the adorably dim-witted green-haired rodents and the trap-strewn levels they attempt to navigate.

Paladone will create mugs and fridge magnets; Bioworld has signed on for adult and kids apparel, nightwear and loungewear; Gaya Entertainment will develop apparel, plush, bags, key chains and wall scrolls; and GB Eye is planning a line of posters, stickers, badges, card holders and notebooks. All the ranges will have a retro focus and are expected to be at retail by early 2015.

“'Lemmings' is a much-loved brand that has reached cult status, and there is clear consumer demand for retro-themed merchandise," says David Evans, European licensing manager, SCEE. "Our licensing program will pay homage to the Lemmings by using the same pixilated graphics featured in the original '90s game. We are delighted to welcome Paladone, Bioworld, Gaya Entertainment and GB Eye to the Lemmings franchise and look forward to meeting potential licensing partners for the brand at BLE.”
