Niantic’s in-game updates and fan events will aim to keep to the AR app a mainstay among consumers, rather than a passing trend.
Much of the furor that surrounded the game’s launch last summer has died down, but with these new updates and a series of fan events planned this summer, Pokémon is aiming to keep ‘Pokémon Go’ an app mainstay, rather than a flash in the pan.
New game updates will include an added gyms badge feature and raid battles, which will make ownership more collaborative and encourage all players to visit gyms and engage with them in new ways; four new items, which only be available by completing raid battles; added search functionality; a visual indicator for unvisited Pokéstops; and more.
The Pokémon Company and Niantic have also revealed
a host fan events to celebratethe game’s anniversary.
