Freeze Tag releases mobile augmented reality game featuring the lasagna-loving cat and real money prizes from Starbucks, Amazon and more.

Paws Inc. has teamed up with Freeze Tag, a creator of mobile social games, to debut “Garfield Go!,” an augmented reality treasure hunting game.

During the game, players will search for various treasures–including real money prizes from partners like Amazon, Starbucks, Best Buy, Domino’s and more–in their own neighborhood. With the help of 3D Garfield, players can discover coins in the map view, which reflects their current surroundings. Once a coin is identified, users will enter AR mode to search for the treasure’s exact location and must feed Garfield one of his favorite foods in order to find it.

The new mobile game will also feature memory-based mini games as well as Garfield animations, voice recordings, sound effects and music.

“‘Garfield Go! is the first augmented reality, location-based game that features the iconic Garfield cat character,” says Craig Holland, chief executive officer, Freeze Tag. “With millions of treasure locations and real money prizes to find, we think players of all ages are going to love playing ‘Garfield Go!’”

“Garfield Go!” is now available on the App Store and Google Play in the U.S., Canada and Australia. The game will also launch in additional countries in the coming months.
