Exploration of animated series and movies could be the next phase of evolution for video game company, Nintendo, after the business announced an agreement to purchase 100% of visual content studio, Dynamo Pictures.

Dynamo Pictures will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Nintendo and be renamed Nintendo Pictures.

The acquisition is set to close in October, bringing a new arm to the global business responsible for the planning and production of visual content, “including CG animation” the report specifies.

This is a new creative outlet for the wealth of intellectual property under the Nintendo banner, meaning franchises such as Mario Bros., Zelda, Animal Crossing, Star Fox, Donkey Kong and more could soon get a streaming/box office treatment.
