Nintendo released a video showing the new hardware, giving a first look at the Nintendo Switch 2. Fans have waited for an updated iteration of the hybrid gaming console and have eagerly speculated about a release date.
The popular gaming console, which features detachable Joy-Con controllers, is playable in portable mode and on TV via a dock. The first-look trailer for the Switch 2 shows an updated console with a larger screen and bigger controllers in a new matte black color. The Joy-Cons now appear to connect magnetically to the main tablet, which features a new, improved-looking U-shaped kickstand and a second USB-C port.
The Switch 2 is backwards compatible, meaning it can play Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games, as well as both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games. Although, Nintendo warns that certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2
