Disney Interactive has released a new iPad app that allows fans to explore the world of Disney animation and take animation workshops.

“Disney Animated,” which was created in collaboration with Touch Press, lets fans immerse themselves in content from all 53 of Walt Disney Animation Studio’s full-length animated feature films.

“Through the power of the iPad, we are bringing fans closer than ever to their favorite Walt Disney Animation Studio films and the art and technology of making those films,” says Mark L. Walker, senior vice president, Disney Interactive Entertainment. “‘Disney Animated’ represents a rare moment when innovation, technology and art converge to create an experience that is entirely new.”

Users can examine treasured artifacts and artwork, get an exclusive first look at footage, concept art, animation tests and visual effects from the upcoming film Frozen and access text, art, sound, images and interviews spanning all eras of Disney animation, much of which was previously unavailable to the public.

A range of interactive activities also allow fans to discover the animation process with actual tools that Disney animators use.

“Walt Disney Animation Studios’ top animators, artists and technicians brought their expertise to this app to help create an incredibly authentic experience which represents our studio’s rich legacy,” says Dave Bossert, co-author, “Disney Animated” and producer, creative director, head of Walt Disney Animation Studios Special Projects. “We’re excited to show the world the art and technology behind how we make our films and inspire the next generation of animators.”
