Video game company Atari is officially venturing into the hotel business. Eight “Atari” video game-themed hotels are being planned to open across the U.S. The company has partnered with GSD Group and True North Studio to build the properties.
The first site is expected to be in Phoenix with construction to begin later this year. The further seven are planned for Austin, San Jose, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Denver and Chicago.
“We are thrilled to partner with GSD Group and True North Studio to build the first-ever ‘Atari’-branded hotels across the United States,” says Fred Chesnais, chief executive officer, Atari. “Together we’ll build a space that will be much more than just a place to stay.”
The hotels will feature fully immersive virtual reality and augmented reality experiences. Venues at select locations will be designed to accommodate esports events.
