Apple has launched “Ultimate Rivals,” an all-new sports game franchise from Bit Fry Game Studios that brings together athletes across hockey, basketball, football, baseball and soccer into a single officially licensed video game, a first in sports and gaming.

The game is available exclusively via Apple Arcade.

“We are ripping up the sports video game rule book and re-writing it for a new generation,” says Ben Freidlin, chief executive officer, founder, Bit Fry Game Studios. “We’re starting with the gamer first and empowering their imagination to create the ultimate team of athletes across sports, in a way only they can envision.”

In “Ultimate Rivals: The Rink,” the first title in the franchise, players choose from more than 50 athletes to compete in two-on-two hockey matches. Different combinations unlock unique ways to play and win against the AI or other gamers in online multiplayer matches.

“Ultimate Rivals: The Rink” will be followed by an NBA licensed basketball game, “Ultimate Rivals:

The Court” in spring 2020.

“With Apple Arcade, we are committed to delivering a curated catalog where every title offers players a new, innovative experience that pushes the boundaries of what a game can be,” says Phil Schiller, senior vice president, worldwide marketing, Apple. “The ‘Ultimate Rivals’ franchise does just that. ‘Ultimate Rivals: The Rink’ is a great new addition to Apple Arcade, and we are excited for everyone to try it out.”
