Activation and PepsiCo have partnered to launch an in-game promotion that will let players use special product codes to unlock in-game rewards in the upcoming video game "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare."
The collaboration will see special product codes created for Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew Amp Game Fuel and Doritos products that can be exchanged for in-game rewards in "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare." Activision's promotion will launch with an esports PRO-AM for the new "Call of Duty" later this month. The unique pre-release exhibition pairs gaming professionals with celebrities in a new 2v2 game mode. Celebrities joining the battle for the event include NBA stars Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell, as well as actor Ajiona Alexus.
"We're thrilled to join forces with Activision just ahead of the hugely anticipated 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' release," says Erin Chin, senior director, marketing, Mountain Dew and Mountain Dew Amp Game Fuel. "We put a stake in the ground when we launched Game Fuel last year, and we're excited to continue delivering one-of-a-kind experiences, like this month's PRO-AM with 'Modern Warfare'–sure to be one of the most exciting games of the year."
Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" is scheduled for global release Oct. 25. It continues the long-running "Call of Duty" franchise, which includes titles such as last year's "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4," which saw an activation with Comcast upon launch.
