Activision Publishing has unveiled a host of branded, toys-to-life merchandise in anticipation of its new game “Skylanders Imaginators,” which will allow fans to create their own custom Skylanders characters.

Developed by Toys For Bob, the new game will allow players to customize the appearance, powers, abilities, names, catchphrases and musical themes of their own Skylander character. The user-created Skylanders, known as Imaginators, will then be used to help defeat Kaos in his quest to take over Skylands. “Skylanders Imaginators” will be released on Oct. 16 in North America.

To celebrate the game’s launch, fans will be able to bring their character creations from the digital world to life with 3D printed figures. The custom-printed Imaginator will come in full color, posed on a base and enclosed in a protective dome. It will also be fully playable on the new console game. The gaming company will also host a 3D printed contest, allowing players to win a 3D printed figure. The contest will launch on Oct. 24.

Activision will also release a new mobile app, called “Skylanders Creator.” The new app will, like the console game, allow players to create and customize their own Skylander character, which can then be transferred to use in the console game. The new app will be available for both iOS and Android devices.

In addition to the new 3D printed figures and app, Activision will also release Imaginator trading cards. Like its toy counterpart, the new cards will allow players to transfer the image to “Skylanders Imaginators” and play as the character.

Finally, “Skylanders” fans will be able to create customized t-shirts featuring an image of their creation, the character’s battle class, element and name.

“Since we first pioneered toys-to-life, fans have been clamoring for ways to express their love for Skylanders. Now with the ‘Skylanders Creator’ app and the launch of ‘Skylanders Imaginators,’ the sky is the limit,” says Paul Reiche, co-founder and studio head, Toys For Bob. “This year, ‘Skylanders’ is putting the power of creation in the hands of fans in ways never before imagined, and we can’t wait to see the millions of Imaginators that will be dreamed up by our Portal Masters around the world.”
