Ten years ago, “Dumb Ways to Die” became one of the major breakout viral video hits of 2012, with its brand of quirky humor and catchy tune spreading a serious message about transport safety. To celebrate this milestone and the penning of a new deal with Netflix, PlaySide Studios Limited has revealed more information about upcoming titles, including “Dumb Ways to Draw 2” and “Dumb Ways to Die 4” set for a 2023 release.

“Initially created by Metro Trains Melbourne with the goal of making us all a bit safer, PlaySide was invited to create games based around the franchise and expand the world,” says Gerry Sakkas, chief executive officer, PlaySide Studios. “In 2021, we were delighted to have acquired the full rights.”

PlaySide Studios has released five “Dumb Ways to Die” games and the characters have carried over into the Web3 space, where a BEANS NFT collection was released in 2022.

“The newest addition to the brand is ‘Dumb Ways to Sleep’, a subscription-based meditation app produced in partnership with Peaceful Kids, whose childhood mindfulness experts were consulted to help create calming content,” says Ben Kelly, general manager, Dumb Ways, PlaySide Studios.

“PlaySide is dedicated to treasuring the iconic Dumb Ways brand and will continue to generate new and exciting titles now and into the future,” adds Sakkas.
