Dutch home textiles licensee Van Es will launch two new bed and bath ranges for The Smiley Company exclusively at the Hemitex show in Frankfurt this month.

The first range (cushions, duvet sets, towels and bathrobes) has been created for the Smiley brand's Happy Collection and is made from 100-percent organic cotton and natural fabrics. It presents the classic original Smiley logo, as well as an eco range, which celebrates Smiley's hippy roots with peace, love and happiness reflected in earthy and neutral tones. The second range is for the Smiley World brand and features colorful, fun themes and trends including color therapy, manga, Russian dolls and wonderland.

"We are very proud to be launching with Van Es a collection of home textile using organic cotton," says Nicolas Loufrani, chief executive officer of The Smiley Company. "Smiley is already doing clothing and shoes with organic cotton and we feel it is very important to promote this production mode that protects cotton farmers and their communities from deadly pesticides."

Ten percent of all royalties will go to charity through the Smiley World Association, which was formed in 2005 to help people in need by setting up health and educational infrastructures in third world countries.
