On average, kids watch more than two-and-a-half hours of TV and movies across all devices on a typical day, the report found.
Kids watch an additional 75 minutes on short-form video platforms, with cartoons remaining their favorite type of TV content, followed by movies and live-action kids shows. Use of newer technology has increased among kids, with streaming devices (+124%), smartwatches (+69%) and VR devices (+60%) all climbing significantly since 2016.
The most common online activity for kids is short-form video viewing on websites and apps (73%). The Top 5 YouTube channels kids watch are Dan TDM, Ryan’s ToysReview, Minecraft, Jake Paul and Hobby Kids TV. Other findings: Social media usage remains much lower for kids, with only 27% using any platform in the last month; “Fortnite” was the second-highest favorite title for boys; and TV adsoutperformed YouTube ads among kids.
