Konami Digital Entertainment is reprising its partnership with Kaleidoscope Youth, Family, Millennials for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game After-School Program.

The program was re-launched April 20 and will run through the end of the current school year. The initiative aims to teach children, between the ages of 8- and 11-years-old reading, sportsmanship and mathematical skills outside of the classroom.

A Yu-Gi-Oh! learning kit is being provided to 2,000 after-school programs throughout the country. Each kit will contain a Leader Guide for teachers or administrators, a Beginner’s Guide and Game mat for each student, Demo Decks for each student, and a variety of variant Card Packs to be used as rewards.

“The program teaches kids how to play the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game, while reinforcing the reading, cognitive and math skills they’ve been learning throughout the school year,” says Yumi Hoashi, vice president of card business, Konami Digital Entertainment. “We designed the kits to take the after-school children through the basic rules of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game, focusing on the battle strategy and how the defense and attack points work. After a few duels they’ll be confident enough to master the game and duel others.”
