Game company What Do You Meme is partnering with scholarship app “Scholly” to offer a total of $30,000 in scholarships this spring. The scholarship application will be open to rising high school seniors and undergraduate college students.
The scholarship application will consist of a short-form essay on the value of a joke. In 300 words or less, students are prompted to “tell us a joke that resonates with you and explain what you believe makes it great.” Students are welcome to elaborate on a joke they have heard or tell their own.
“What Do You Meme may look like we're all fun and games, but as a team of forward thinkers and creatives, we know the critical importance of education,” said What Do You Meme via statement. “With so many of our friends and customers confronting the challenge of student debt in the wake of COVID-19, we have decided to partner with ‘Scholly’ to do our part to help.”
The application period for the scholarships begins April 27 and closes June 26. What Do You Meme is encouraging students, teachers and social media followers to help spread the word about these scholarships by tagging @WhatDoYouMeme in social media posts about the opportunity and using the hashtags #WDYMscholarship #WDYMuniversity.
In addition, What Do You Meme recently partnered with Feeding America to donate one million meals to families in need.
