As both a licensor and a licensee, Toronto, Canada-headquartered Spin Master continues to break its own records and artfully traverse all areas of kids’ entertainment across the globe, year after year. And 2021 is no different. This year will see the premiere of the wildly anticipated “PAW Patrol” animated feature film in August and a bevy of licensing partnerships, product launches and more that build on the company’s strategic business acquisitions. With a roster of leading kids’ brands under its helm, Spin Master is ticking off all the boxes and reaching fans and audiences at all touchpoints in both entertainment and licensing.

On the licensing side, Spin Master’s 2021 wins will follow a solid 2020 that saw collaborations and growth in all areas of business.

“Spin Master kicked off 2020 as the new master toy licensee for Warner Bros. Consumer Products’ iconic Batman franchise and other DC Super Heroes,” says Adam Beder, executive vice president, strategic partnership and franchise development, Spin Master. “Spin Master introduced its imaginative twists and innovative product in the boys’ action figures, remote control vehicles, water toys, games and puzzles categories. Our team collaborated amazingly well with the Warner Bros. Consumer Products team to deliver what retail buyers called the most innovative DC and Batman toy line they had ever seen. As of our third quarter, our Batman toy sales had far surpassed those of the previous licensee the year prior, despite 2020 being a non-movie year. Truly an outstanding outcome.”

An outstanding outcome that was also reflected for Monster Jam, which enjoyed significant growth in what was perhaps one of the most challenging years in recent business history.

“We are also exceptionally proud of our Monster Jam performance with more than 50 percent growth during the third quarter when compared to the prior record-setting and inaugural year for Spin Master,” says Beder. “Despite the cancellations of many live Monster Jam shows due to the pandemic, the brand continued to show strength propelled by some really progressive marketing tactics and innovation with the launch of Monster Jam Megalodon Storm (an all-terrain RC vehicle that conquers land and water), as well as the Monster Jam Transforming Hauler.”

Beder tells License Global that Spin Master will debut a slate of new licenses this year in addition to expanding its current roster of partners and licensing programs.
