Tech 4 Kids has partnered with Irwin Toy to develop the 3D Creation Maker, a kid-friendly 3D printer that it will showcase this weekend at New York Toy Fair.

Using a special gel that turns into a solid after 10 seconds, kids trace a design onto a template to create multi-dimensional structures. Unlike other 3D design systems, the 3D Creation Maker uses light not heat, making it kid-safe.

The gel is available in multiple colors including a special glow-in-the-dark formula. In addition to a number of pre-designed templates, kids can also use the accompanying "3D Magic" app to create their own templates.
