Toys ‘R’ Us’ John Cena figure proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish.

NORTH AMERICA- Mattel and WWE have joined forces to create a limited edition exclusive for retailer Toys ‘R’ Us that benefits the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Set to hit shelves Aug. 15, and with presale kicking off this week, the new John Cena action figure, modeled after the WWE Superstar and deressed in red, white and blue ring gear, is exclusive to Toys ‘R’ Us. Mattel will donate a portion of the sales proceeds of the figure to Make-A-Wish, an organization that grants “wishes” to children diagnosed with life-threatening medical condisitons.

Acccording to WWE, John Cena has grandted more than 500 wishes to-date, making him the most popular celebrity ever in Make-A-Wish history.

The figure is the result of input from Alex, a Make-A-Wish kid from Los Angeles, Calif., who worked with Mattel and WWE to bring the design to life.

“Having the opportunity to meet Alex and witness first-hand his vision behind the action figure was an incredible experience,” says Cena. “There is nothing more humbling than a child who could ask for anything in the world asking to meet me, and I will continue to grant wishes as long as I am asked.”

“At Make-A-Wish, we have heard over and over again how wishes have the power to bring families and communities closer together for the better,” says David Williams, president and chief executive officer, Make-A-Wish. “This is a case where wishes have inspired three of our sponsors to work collaboratively to bring the life-affirming nature of a wish to more wish kids, and we could not be more excited.”
