LEGO and Little, Brown Books are teaming for a new publishing program based on the construction toy company’s best-selling properties.

In a multiple book, multi-year agreement, Little, Brown Books will launch a line of graphic novels for Ninjago, LEGO Friends and LEGO Bionicle. The first book will launch in September and be supported by an extensive pre-publication campaign that includes a major presence at International Comic-Con in San Diego, Calif. The books will target readers ages 6 to 11, and feature storytelling that will expand the LEGO universe in both trade paperback and e-book formats.

“I could not be more thrilled to establish this publishing partnership with the LEGO Group,” says Andrew Smith, senior vice president and deputy publisher, Little, Brown Books. “I’ve always been inspired by their values and the role that they’ve played in laying the foundation for creativity within children that extends well beyond one’s youth, and I believe that great children’s books do the same thing. We are proud and honored to work with the LEGO Group to build a publishing program that will delight and inspire young readers for years to come.”
