K’Nex and Nintendo are bringing Mario Kart from the video screen to the construction aisle with the addition of new building sets in the co-branded line.

The new K’Nex Mario Kart Wii building systems will feature characters from Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii game including Mario, Luigi, Bowser and Donkey Kong, along with construction sets to build custom racing tracks.

The new additions to the K’NEX Mario Kart Wii line debut this month across the U.S. and to celebrate an in-store event is being held at the Nintendo World Store in New York City’s Rockefeller Center next Thursday. The fan event will include building stations, product demonstrations and photo ops with Mario and Luigi.

“We are excited to partner with Nintendo World Store to unveil the newest K’Nex Mario Kart Wii building sets to our fans,” says Michael Araten, president and chief executive officer, K’Nex.  “What the success of this line has shown us is that not only are we enabling kids to build a world they love, but by offering them interchangeable track and expansions sets it becomes their world–a world in which using their imagination is key, where they can interact with their favorite characters and bring the video game to life in a whole new way."
