New York Toy Fair wrapped up its 111th year yesterday, after playing host to major releases from Disney, Nickelodeon, CBS, Funko and even the NBA.

The American International Toy Fair wrapped up its 111th year in New York City yesterday, after playing host to major releases from Disney, Nickelodeon, CBS, Funko and even the NBA, which got its first toy line from Jazwares.

Based on what was seen at the show, the Toy Industry Association (which organizes the event) predicted a number of trends that its expects to dominate in 2014, including larger sizes, remote-controlled toys, a focus on STEAM content, retro brands and more. The Rainbow Loom from Choon’s Design took home the top prize at the annual Toy of the Year awards with GoldieBlox and its Spinning Machine snagging the People’s Choice Award. Click here for a full list of winners.

Disney made a splash in a star-studded event at the opening of the show where it outlined its plans to target the boy toy market through properties such as Planes, Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man. Read more…

Nickelodeon swarmed the show floor with new offerings for all of its top brands including Dora the Explorere, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Bubble Guppies and SpongeBob SquarePants from licensees that included Fisher-Price, Just Play, Mega Bloks and The LEGO Group. Read more…

Hasbro reinvented its Transformers brand with a completely re-imagined line of toys, some of which incorporate dinosaurs. The toy company also announced a raft of licensees signed on for the fourth Transformers feature film, out this June. Read more…

And of course, fan favorites like BBC’s Doctor Who, Activision's Skylanders and Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time showcased a swath of new products.
