The board game debuted in 1935 and has since reached 1 billion players in 114 countries around the world.
In celebration, Hasbro Gaming has introduced the Monopoly 80th Anniversary Edition game, featuring a vintage-style board, cards and money, wooden houses and hotels, along with classic tokens from across the decades such as the lantern and money bag.
The game will also come to life on screen later this year, in the new nationally syndicated weekly game show “Monopoly Millionaires Club.” The show will air exclusively on cable partner Game Show Network.
Fans can also experience the Monopoly brand in a variety of formats including digital gaming via mobile, console and online through collaborations with licensees such as Ubisoft and EA, as well as another round of Monopoly at McDonald's, a promotion that has run more than 20 times in the
Finally, fans from around the world will gather at the upcoming Monopoly World Championship, scheduled for Sept. 7-9 at The Venetian in Macao, China.
