Doodles, a next-generation media company behind the new animated special, “Dullsville and the Doodleverse,” has announced a new collaboration with Spin Master to celebrate Rubik’s Cube’s 50th anniversary. The collaboration will see Doodles and Spin Master launch a fan experience, unveiling a digital collectible, digital comic and releasing a series of digital shorts all inspired by Rubik’s Cube.
“There aren’t many toys that have the nostalgic power of the iconic Rubik’s Cube,” says Julian Holguin, chief executive officer, Doodles. “Alongside the innovative Spin Master team, we plan to bring generations together through immersive experiences that seamlessly blend technology, art and collecting. From a fun ‘pack ripping’ experience featuring a mind-bending Rubik’s Cube to a fresh new comic, there are so many unique elements to this exciting collaboration.”
The Doodles and Spin Master fan experience will allow participants to unlock a physical and digital collectible. Each pack will feature limited-edition redeemables that can be traded in for one of three Doodles x Rubik’s Cube toys or possibly the one-of-one diamond encrusted Rubik’s Cube from Eliantte & Co. The unique piece fuses cutting-edge art and timeless crystal craftsmanship. All packs will also include a Rubik’s Cube-themed digital wearable, which can be used to style Doodles avatars in the Stoodio.
“By merging the timeless challenge of the Rubik’s Cube with the vibrant creativity of Doodles in the Web3 space, we’re crafting a new digital frontier where playfulness meets innovation,” says Sam Susz, senior director of brand marketing, Spin Master. “This collaboration is not just about solving puzzles, but about unlocking new dimensions of creativity and community in the digital age.”
As part of the rollout, Doodles will release a Rubik’s-themed digital comic that introduces the experience of Doodles x Rubik’s Cube. The new comic features Hap and Mello, characters from the new animated special, “Dullsville and the Doodleverse.” The partnership will also include a series of digital shorts that blend Rubik’s Cube and Doodles’ pastel-hued animation style.
