CES: Scholastic, Intel Team for Games

The first products in the collection will feature the Scholastic franchises Clifford the Big Red Dog and I Spy and are designed to be used on the pAIO, a new category of PCs that offer the performance of a full PC inside a lay-flat, battery-based design.

The new interactive game “Clifford's Reading Adventures,” which debuted at the International Consumer Electronics Show this week in Las Vegas, Nev., uses Intel's RealSense technology to let kids become active participants in Clifford stories using motion-based interactions and by voicing story elements.

Scholastic and Intel are also planning an interactive multiplayer board game, “I Spy Challenger,” designed to promote collaborative digital play.

"We are thrilled to be working with Intel to develop games that bring the family together, using Scholastic's award-winning Clifford the Big Red Dog and I Spy," says Deborah

Forte, president, Scholastic Media, and executive vice president, Scholastic Inc. "Intel's exciting technologies provide a platform for Scholastic's producers to design games that encourage the family to learn and play together."

Both games will be available for Windows Desktop and Windows Metro. Several additional games are in development through 2015.

"The idea that our devices are gathering family and friends to play games and build learning skills is great motivation for continuing this type of innovation," says Lisa Graff, vice president, general manager, desktop client platform group, Intel. "We are thrilled to be working with Scholastic and believe this is just the beginning of what is to come. The portable all-in-one PC with its large, lay-flat, multi-user touch screen can be unplugged and moved from room to room and, when combined with the new Intel RealSense 3D camera, will continue to encourage shared experiences for people to interact, play and have fun together."
