NORTH AMERICA- Producer and toy industry innovator Michael Polis has joined the management team of Captain Action Enterprises, the owner of the world’s first superhero action figure, Captain Action.

Captain Action first burst onto the scene in the ‘60s, but has been enjoying a resurgence with new comics, apparel and collectibles in recent years. The new toy line, manufactured by Round 2 in a co-licensing effort with Marvel Entertainment, was sold in Toys ‘R’ Us, online and comic shops domestically. Medi Com Toy also recently released a limited-edition Ultra Man costume in international markets, and Captain Action Enterprises is planning new entertainment and licensing initiatives for the brand across multiple media platforms.

Polis, through his company Atomic Toybox Entertainment, has invested in the property along with co-founders Ed Catto and Joe Ahearn as a vehicle for entertainment including television and other media.

Polis is best known for his expertise in creating content and strategies for brands and intellectual property. Nominated for four Emmy Awards, he has produced award-winning content for film, television and digital media for properties such as Neil Gaiman’s “Mirrormask,” “Kermit’s Swamp Years” and “Yo Gabba Gabba!”
