American Girl, a subsidiary of Mattel, has tapped global book publisher DK to create an exclusive collection of nonfiction books.

American Girl Plans Nonfiction Books

DK will publish a series of books inspired by the girls’ lifestyle brand.


DK’s first title, a fully illustrated reference book titled

The American Girl Ultimate Visual Guide

, will tell the story of the brand, from the original idea conceived by Pleasant T. Rowland to the development of its doll lines including Truly Me, Girl of the Year, Bitty Baby and BeForever. It will also include anecdotes from the American Girl team and information on how the dolls are created from concept to market.

is slated to launch this month.

American Girl: Ultimate Sticker Collection

is slated to launch this month. The collection includes more than 1,000 reusable stickers featuring American Girl dolls and accessories, as well as facts and illustrations.

More nonfiction books are planned for 2017.
