ZDF Enterprises has appointed SMC Entertainment Group to represent two of its teen series, "H20 Just Add Water" and "Dance Academy," throughout North America.
The teen drama "Dance Academy" premieres on Teen Nick Feb. 20. The series, a hit for Australia's ABC3, airs on ZDF in Germany and has already been sold to YLE Finland, TG4 Ireland, Cartoon Network Latin America, NRK Norway, Disney in Portugal and Spain, RTI-Mediaset Italy, Canal+ France, SF Switzerland, NPO Netherlands, Vitaya Belgium and South Korea.
SMC will sign partners for the property targeting girls 8-14 in categories such as dancewear, apparel, accessories, publishing, gaming, back-to-school and room décor. Products will launch at retail spring 2013.
"H20 Just Add Water," a series about three teen mermaids, began airing in the U.S. on Teen Nick in January, and ranks at the No. 1 show for tweens and tween girls. The show is licensed to more than 140 territories.
SMC is seeking H20 Just Add Water partners in swimwear, apparel, accessories, publishing, gaming/apps, stationery, room décor and novelties, with later expansion into other categories. Products should arrive at retail spring 2013.
