Wal-Mart Signs Multi-Year Deal with Garth Brooks
Wal-Mart inked an exclusive multi-year
agreement with singer/songwriter Garth Brooks that will include all Wal-Mart
stores, Sam's Club locations, and http://www.walmart.com/.
Details of the relationship were not released. Brooks retired from public
performing in 2001 and is the all-time biggest-selling solo artist, taking 25
singles to the No. 1 position on the country charts.
New Playscapes to Make Kids Go Looney
Warner Bros. Consumer Products is partnering with Taubman Centers, Inc., on
Looney Tunes-themed children's play areas within Taubman shopping centers
around the country. The first will debut at Northlake Mall, a soon-to-open
enclosed regional shopping center in Charlotte, NC. The concept also will be
expanded to new Taubman shopping centers nationwide, as well as retrofitted to
select existing malls with variations on the Looney Tunes theme.
Pair Revs Up Exclusive Partnership
Cartoon Network is joining forces with Kellogg's NASCARtoon Racing to offer
kids the opportunity to collect up to six exclusive Hot Wheels NASCARtoon
Racing Rev-Ups racecars. Hot Wheels Rev-Ups use Magna Trax Technology to climb
steel surfaces with ease. Fans who send in four proof-of-purchases from 11
different participating Kellogg's cereals will receive one of the select
racecars featuring Scooby-Doo, Codename: Kids Next Door, Foster's Home for
Imaginary Friends, Johnny Bravo, The Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter's Laboratory.
The campaign will officially launch August 26 to 27 at the Busch and Nextel
NASCAR races at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, where three full-size
Cartoon Network-branded cars will compete for the checkered flag.
Road Tour Planned for Inuyasha
Inuyasha The Movie 3: Swords of an Honorable Ruler will take to the road,
stopping at one Wal-Mart in each of 15 cities as part of a world premiere
mobile theater tour. In a joint effort with VIZ Media, Revolution Marketing has
developed a 92-seat, state-of-the-art, mobile movie theater that will make its
first stop in Seattle, WA, August 24 and visit other cities such as Los
Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, and Atlanta. In addition to a
full-screen viewing of the new title, fans also will receive limited-edition
Inuyasha merchandise. The movie will come to the small screen via DVD September
A Monster of a Deal
Endgame Entertainment, an equity production fund, and Brandissimo! Inc., a
family entertainment production company, created Meteor the Monster Truck
Company, LLC. First project out of the gate is Meteor the Monster Truck, a
computer-animated cartoon property for preschoolers that will be available on
DVD in November 2005. Twenty-six episodes of Meteor the Monster Truck already
are in production. A feature film and additional products, including toys and
computer games, are in development.
Most Management Signs Stoopid Monkey Deal
Stoopid Monkey LLC named Most Management LLC licensing agent for the company's
monkey mascot. Stoopid Monkey is a partnership of Seth Green and Matthew
Senreich, the creative minds behind Robot Chicken on Cartoon Network's adult
swim programming block. A different Stoopid Monkey image appears at the end of
every Robot Chicken episode. With more than 1 million viewers, Robot Chicken is
a top performer in the 18-to-34 age demographic.
Interactive Website on Tap for Jay Jay the Jet Plane
Jay Jay the Jet Plane is getting his own nationwide fan club, thanks to a new

can download video songs (for sing-alongs); send E-cards; vote on their
favorite characters, episodes, and adventures; and play character-related
games. The site also will offer everything associated with Jay Jay's world
including a retail store; newsletters; monthly calendar of events;

Jay Jay and Friends." The site will feature a section called "Fly with Jay Jay"
from parenting expert and author Donna Erickson, which will offer an ongoing

AK Comics Sets Down U.S. Roots
AK Comics opened an office in Los Angeles as the Middle East-based comic book
and multimedia entertainment company begins to focus on the U.S. market for its
line of Middle East-themed superhero comic books, animated series, and
licensing program for its brands. The first titles will be released first
quarter 2006. Taking the reins of the company are Jordan Udko as vice president
of business development and Managing Editor Marwan Nashar, who is headquartered
in Cairo and will maintain an office at the U.S. headquarters.
Sesame Workshop Promotes Two Execs
Sesame Workshop promoted Liz Nealon to executive vice president/creative
director and Terry Fitzpatrick to executive vice president, distribution.
Nealon will be responsible for the Workshop's creative direction across all
media-electronic and print. Fitzpatrick will manage distribution strategy and
partner relations to deliver the Workshop's content through multiple platforms
including domestic and international television, home video, audio, print
publishing, themed entertainment, and digital and interactive media.
