Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products has launched a national retail campaign with Walmart in preparation for the franchise’s latest theatrical release, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, Friday.

A wide variety of Wimpy Kid products, including exclusive merchandise, is now available in the One Stop Wimpy Shops at more than 2,500 Walmart stores nationwide.

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid is quite simply one of the strongest children’s franchises in the world today, topping both the book, film and home entertainment charts with each release,” says Jeffrey Godsick, president, Fox Consumer Products. “Walmart has a great program to support the film release in the U.S., giving fans the ultimate Wimpy Kid shopping experience.”

Products include Jeff Kinney’s best-selling Wimpy Kid book series, board games, DVDs and book accessories. Among the items exclusive to Walmart will be a Wimpy Kid mini prank kit from Cardinal Industries and a two-pack DVD set of the first two Wimpy Kid films.

An updated version of the behind-the-scenes book, The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary: How Greg Heffley Went Hollywood, will also be available with a free limited edition movie poster only available at Walmart and Sam’s Club.
