Walmart and NASCAR announced a new relationship designed to give Walmart customers new NASCAR branded merchandise and discounts on tickets for select races. The new “Race Time” retail program is the largest retail promotion in NASCAR's history and launches in 1,500 Walmart stores Feb. 20, in conjunction with the 53rd Daytona 500.
The program kicks off with select NASCAR and NASCAR team licensed merchandise in Walmart stores and online, including t-shirts, racing flags and tailgating food and beverages. In addition, Walmart customers and NASCAR fans can save money by purchasing a discount ticket package online for select NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.
"We know our customers are NASCAR fans, and we continue to look for ways to provide unforgettable family experiences as well as greater value in every aspect of their lives," says Stephen Quinn, chief marketing officer of Walmart U.S. "We're very pleased to introduce this program to our customers and help them save money while fully experiencing the excitement of NASCAR."
"Millions of NASCAR fans eagerly await the start of the season and we are excited to get in high gear with this relationship with Walmart," says Paul Brooks, senior vice president of NASCAR, president of NASCAR Media Group and board member of the NASCAR Team Properties. "This program will allow us to get even deeper into product development over the coming years with Walmart helping us deliver exciting new products at affordable prices to our fans."
