Nickelodeon and Playmates previewed their extensive new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles product line, which will officially be unveiled at New York’s Toy Fair beginning Feb. 12.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toy collection, which is based on Nickelodeon’s new CG-animated television series set to premiere in the fall, will hit retail shelves in August. The original series aired from 1988 to 1996, generating one of the most popular licensed toy lines during those years. The same four brothers are being featured including Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo.

"The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were a phenomenon featuring iconic characters that appealed to all kids," says Karl Aaronian, senior vice president of marketing, Playmates Toys. "Now, we are taking the best of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and updating them for a whole new generation. The innovative new toys will allow kids today the opportunity to recreate that unique ‘Ninja Turtles’ experience. Nobody can resist that unique Turtle blend of humor, action and fun-loving personalities."

The Playmates collection features more than 40 skus including action figures; sound figures that deliver battle phrases and sound effects; classic action figures, which replicate the original Turtles from the 1988 TV show; vehicles; play sets; and role play gear including ninja weapon, sword and the signature bandana.

The Playmates line also includes a set of 12-in. figures, which will be exclusive to Toys ‘R’ Us.

“We're excited to continue working with our long-standing partner Playmates on the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy line, says Manuel Torres, senior vice president, global toys and consumer electronics, Nickelodeon. "Playmates understands the property and has helped us reinterpret the toys from a fresh perspective, while staying true to the action and fantasy of this iconic franchise. The new toys capture the excitement of our new series in a way that fans of all ages can appreciate."
