“Star Trek Live,” an interactive stage performance, will debut at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, Ontario, June 2. The show is produced by Mad Science Productions under a license from CBS Consumer Products.

Based on the science fiction franchise, the show combines special effects, audience interaction and an exploration of real space age technology, the audience joins the Starfleet as new cadets assembled for the first day at the Starfleet Academy.

“Today, thanks in part to the popularity of the Star Trek franchise, public interest in outer space and space exploration is exceptionally high,” says Lesley Lewis, chief executive officer, Ontario Science Centre. “This summer, the Science Centre will actively engage and educate ‘armchair astronauts’ of all ages with ‘Star Trek Live.’”

“Star Trek Live” will be performed four times daily for free from June 2 to Sept. 3.

“‘Star Trek Live’ could not have found a better location for the popular summer holiday period,” says Leonard Lipes, managing director and producer, Mad Science Productions. “Based on the storyline and the fiction-to-reality show concept, both NASA and the Ontario Science Centre were clearly an obvious choice of partners for this co-branding opportunity, allowing visitors to follow in the footsteps of Star Trek’s iconic characters.”

The “Star Trek Live” show previously appeared at the Kennedy Space Center in Orsino, Fla., at various times over the last two years.
