Resorts World Sentosa, Universal Parks & Resorts and Sesame Workshop have announced a Sesame Street theme park experience opening in June at Universal Studios Singapore.

The experience will include a Sesame Street-themed ride, special shows and a character breakfast program, all of which will be housed in the New York Zone, one of the seven theme zones within Universal Studios Singapore.

“Sesame Workshop has had a proud history of educating and entertaining children globally since 1969 and in Singapore since 1976,” says H. Melvin Ming, president and chief executive officer, Sesame Workshop, the non-profit organization behind Sesame Street. “At the heart of Resorts World Sentosa’s business is creating a million moments of enjoyment for the whole family at its destination resort, and we are thrilled to come together in creating this new, engaging Sesame Street experience within one of the resort’s major family attractions, Universal Studios Singapore.”

The new Sesame Street additions will be rolled out throughout the year, beginning on Monday with a 12-minute stage show at the steps of the “New York Library.” Two other street shows featuring characters like Oscar the Grouch and Bert and Ernie, will debut at the same time, along with character photo ops throughout the day.

Following the launch of the shows, special Sesame Street merchandise–exclusive to the theme park–will go on sale. The park will feature three new themed retail outlets, including a Sesame Street School Bus, which will drive into Universal Studios Singapore in July.

A special rise-and-shine breakfast program, The Sesame Street Character Breakfast, will debut later in the third quarter and last but not least, a new Sesame Street indoor ride will launch later in the year.

“With its portfolio of loveable characters such as Big Bird, Elmo, and Cookie Monster, whom many generations have grown up with, Sesame Street has captured the attention of the Asian audience for decades, and continues to be enjoyed by children globally,” says Ming. “I am confident that the new attraction and shows will bring joy and laughter to children and adults alike.”
