Rocket Licensing has been appointed by Geographers’ A-Z Map Company to license the U.K. map brand, A-Z, across multiple categories.

Discussions with potential licensees are already under way that include plans for a wide range of product licenses such as gift products, greeting cards, stationary, homewares, bags, apparel, games, smartphone apps and travel accessories.

“The decision to bring A-Z to market was not difficult; it has long been a design classic as well as a trusted source of reference,” says Steve Berger, joint managing director, Geographers’ A-Z Map Company. “However, finding a partner with the experience and ideas to make the most of A-Z was a key requirement. We are delighted to be working with Rocket who we know will fulfill the potential of this great British brand.”

A comprehensive style guide is in development that will not only draw on the mapping of A-Z guides, but also maps from past eras.

The first A-Z products are likely to appear at retail in time for the Christmas season.

“I, like most people in the U.K., am already a fan and user of the A-Z,” says Rob Wijeratna, joint managing director, Rocket Licensing. “The opportunity to work on such an iconic brand, known to millions and with strong potential in the marketplace, is one we are thrilled to have been offered. This is a brand that’s really going places!”
