Plopsa, the theme park division of the Belgian media enterprise Studio100, has purchased the amusement and adventure destination Holiday Park in Hassloch in Southwest Germany. The re-opening of Holiday Park is scheduled for April 2011.

It will keep its name and Studio100 will invest €25 million ($35 million) over the next four years to make it one of the five most frequented theme parks in Germany. The park will feature character branding from Studio100's Maya the Bee, Vicky, House of Anubis and others.

"It is important for Studio100 to offer family entertainment on all platforms under our own direction—this also includes allowing fans to experience beloved classics such as Vicky and the heroes from our production House of Anubis," says Patrick Elmendorff, managing director of Studio100 Media.

Plopsa already operates three theme parks in Belgium; Plopsaland De Panne (opened in 2000), Plopsa Indoor Hasselt (2005), and Plopsa Coo (2005); and one theme park in the Netherlands, Plopsa Indoor Coevorden (April 2010). Collectively, the theme parks attract approximately 2.5 million visitors per year.
