"Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs-The 4-D Experience,” a live attraction from Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products,  debuted in the U.S. last weekend at the San Diego Zoo in San Diego, Calif.

The 14-minute attraction combines 3-D film elements from the third film in the franchise with an array of synchronized physical effects. It was created in partnership with SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment.

The attraction first opened at Alton Towers in the U.K. and Gardaland in Italy, but this is the first time it will appear in the U.S.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to see this amazing attraction debut in the U.S. after a strong premiere in Europe. The San Diego Zoo is the ideal location,” says Jeffrey Godsick, president, Fox Consumer Products. “Ice Age is one of the biggest animated film franchises in the world and by establishing a home at one of the country’s top family destinations we’re allowing fans to immerse themselves with their favorite characters in all-new ways.”

The U.S. launch of the attraction was timed precedes the release of the franchise’s fourth film, Ice Age: Continental Drift, this July.
