The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has partnered with MediaMine to develop an official “Walk of Fame” app.

Available next summer, the “Walk of Fame” app will act as a digital docent, letting users build custom itineraries or choose from pre-set tours to visit the stars on the Walk of Fame and surrounding neighborhood highlights.

“The idea is to transform a tourist’s trip from a passive experience into one with engaging information in the form of news, videos, photos, letters and other information about the fascinating events occurring in Hollywood throughout the 20th century, as well as present day,” says Leron Gubler, president and chief executive officer, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. “MediaMine has devised an app that will marry today’s technology with the heritage contained in our library that, until now, was inaccessible by the public.”

As users approach their points of destination along the Walk of Fame, they will be presented with information about the celebrities, including text, photos and videos of the stars, as well as the stars’ favorite spots nearby.

The app will also include social sharing features, a scavenger hunt, a Hollywood trivia game, exclusive offers from local merchants, nearby entertainment options and virtual items and hard goods available for in-app purchase.

App users can get updates when new stars are added and future versions will include multiple languages.
