Sanrio's U.K. agent Fluid World has signed Alfred Franks & Bartlett for Hello Kitty-themed kitchen accessories—a new category for the Hello Kitty U.K. licensing program.
AFB is an existing Hello Kitty licensee for sunglasses. The new kitchen accessories range will target children with baking sets, aprons, placemats and food molds, as well as adults with a range of oven gloves, tea towels, picnic rugs, cleaning utensils, trays, canisters and salt and pepper sets. AFB will also use the Hello Kitty vintage style guide, which features Hello Kitty as she appeared in the 70s. This range will include ceramic products such as teapots, cup and saucer sets, milk jug and sugar bowls, egg cups, cake tins, tea towels and a tea cosy. The collection will launch at retail in fall 2011.
"We have enjoyed tremendous success with our Hello Kitty sunglasses range and in line with our company strategy of investing in quality licensed products we are delighted to be working on this exciting project," says Laurence Cowan, managing director of AFB. "Hello Kitty has a wide and growing appeal, and we look forward to launching the Hello Kitty kitchen range that is currently under development."
