Fox and Rovio Partner for Plush

Twentieth Century Fox’s 3D animated comedy Rio and Rovio’s Angry Birds will match up again for a line of co-branded plush. The plush will join an exclusive Rio toy line already in place at Toys ‘R’ Us stores nationwide and online.T

Twentieth Century Fox’s 3D animated comedy Rio and Rovio’s Angry Birds will match up again for a line of co-branded plush. The plush will join an exclusive Rio toy line already in place at Toys ‘R’ Us stores nationwide and online.

The line of plush will feature characters Blu, Jewel, Nigel, Pedro and Nico, each designed in the style of best-selling app Angry Birds Rio. The plush, developed in partnership with Rovio’s toy partner Commonwealth Toys, will be available beginning mid-month through fall. The release will also coincide with the release of Rio on Blue-Ray and DVD Aug. 2 from Fox Home Entertainment, which also grants a clue to new levels of Angry Birds Rio.

“It’s a partnership that just makes sense,” says Robert Marick, executive vice president of Fox Consumer Products. “The consumer market has already gone crazy over the Angry Birdsapp, and now fans who have also enjoyed the hit sensation Rio can have the best of both worlds.”
