Discovery Communications has unveiled Discovery Kids Puterbugs, an online educational program that teaches kids age 8 and under to use technology to solve problems.

The interactive tool, found at DiscoveryKids.com/Puterbugs, is presented by Discovery Kids and Imagine Tomorrow, a leading provider of computer classes for young children.

Big Tent Entertainment, the North American licensing agent for the Discovery Kids brand, brokered the deal on behalf of Discovery Communications.

The program helps kids master skills that range from basic file navigation, Internet and keyboarding skills, to an understanding of the latest in cutting-edge technology, such as mobile apps and cloud computing.

Guided by a live-action teacher speaks directly to the child through webcam-style videos, kids take on the role of computer detectives to solve interactive online problems in 30 minute sessions.

“We feel Puterbugs is a natural fit for the Discovery Kids brand as we pride ourselves on providing kids with real world experiences that promote learning through exploring,” says Elizabeth Bakacs, vice president of licensing for Discovery Kids. “Discovery Kids Puterbugs satisfies children’s natural curiosity for technology while satisfying the parent’s desire for their children to use it in creative and meaningful ways.”
