The Smiley Company has partnered with French hypermarket Carrefour for a "Smile its back-to-school/work" promotion ("Souriez c ’est la rentree") throughout all stores.
Carrefour will use several SmileyWorld icons to mark out different sections within its stores and parking lots as part of the promotion. The icons will also appear on their direct-mail and in-store catalogs, as well as on their website and as part of a major advertising campaign in both online and offline publications including daily newspapers, billboards and radio; resulting in one of the biggest promotional campaigns of the year for Carrefour.

Carrefour will offer their customers a promotional checkbook housing €100 worth of offers in the form of promotional checks illustrated with Smiley icons which can be used to redeem against purchases. Thirteen thousand checkbooks will be distributed throughout the campaign offering €1.3 billion worth of promotional discounts to Carrefour customers.
